Management Committee
Gloucester Preschool Incorporated is managed by a committee of volunteer parents. This enables the service to remain a non-profit organisation.
Management positions are declared vacant at the Annual General Meeting each year and all parents are welcome to stand for positions and to attend meetings.
The Committee meets monthly to ensure that the service continues to operate legally, ethically and to a high standard of practice.
When to keep your child at home
If you suspect your child of having an infectious condition or early symptoms of illness, your child should be kept at home until you have the symptoms checked out by your local doctor, thereby protecting your child and other children in the Pre-School from unnecessary exposure to illness.
Signs and symptoms to be alert for:
- A high temperature or fever
- A severe cold
- The child seems sick without obvious symptoms e.g. unusually tired, pale, irritable or lethargic
- Vomiting or lose bowel motions
- Rashes-any irritation you cannot identify
- Red swollen or discharging eyes
The director may request that any child who is unwell be taken home, especially if they have symptoms of an infectious illness. Parents will be contacted if their child falls ill while at Pre-School. If the parent cannot be contacted someone on your emergency contact list (on your enrolment form) will be contacted.
Some infectious diseases require exclusion from the Pre School
Conjunctivitis: until discharge has cleared from eyes
Diarrhoea: If symptoms persist after 24 hours see your doctor
Chickenpox: 7 days after spots appear and no new spots
Measles: At least 5 days from the appearance of the rash
Rubella: At least 5 days from appearance of rash
Mumps: At least 10 days after swelling appears
Head lice: Until treated and head is free of nits
Impetigo: no exclusion if being treated and covered. Uncovered excluded until sores are treated.
Ringworm: Until treatment has begun and a medical certificate is produced indicating so
Whooping cough: for at least 3 weeks and until a medical certificate is produced.
